LOWESTOFT STUDIO
Lowestoft studio, also known as Lorne Hall was originally built in 1886 as a Baptist Church. In WWII it was used as a Primary school and for a short time after that it was used as a youth centre, as well as for meals on wheels. The June Glennie School of Dance moved into Lorne Hall in 1982 when Sharon Glennie returned from teaching dance in Italy and has been there ever since.
When moving into the building it had to be completely revamped, as not one door was left hanging, the windows were all smashed and there was no area of the premises that did not need serious attention. Existing walls were knocked down to make two good sized studios and two new toilets were put in. Since being open the school has gone through three floors, and happy tapping feet seem to go through many more in the future! Recently Lorne Hall has has brand new doubled glazed windows fitted and a brand new fire door.
