Jack and Jill Tap (Wednesday 25th July 2007) by Katie Sturman

Got up at 8:00am today feeling all excited about the day ahead of me. I got ready as fast as I could so we didn’t miss the bus. When we got to Rainbow car park there were loads of the group and their parents waiting. They all looked as excited as me! The bus arrived and I couldn't wait to get on it. As the bus started to move I suddenly got butterflies. We stopped at Morrisons in beccles then over to Norwich to pick up the rest of the group .

The journey to the theatre was so fun! And when we looked out of the window we could see all of the london landmarks like Big ben and the Dome and the London eye. It didnt take us long until we were at The Peacock theatre. We got our cards with our names on it so that when we went into the dressing rooms they would know that we were in there. It made me feel special to have my own swipe card with my name on it.We had a long time to wait before we got ready so some of us went shopping while others did solos. When we got back we had to go to the Dressing room. To get there we had to go through corridors and up and down stairs. I was thinking about all the famous dancers who had been through that very same door! Our dressing room was right at the bottom but it was very big. The smell of the hair gel and hairspray made me feel so excited and quite nervous. We had to do our make up because there were only five chaperones helping us. When we got our costumes on and started practicing the spirit was really up and everyone was giving it their all.

Then we got a call to go down to the stage. All of a sudden I felt butterflies again. I was feeling so nervous but at the same time excited because the dance is energetic and fun. When we went up before it was our turn all the nervous feelings rushed out of me and I filled up with energy. When the curtains shut and we put down our boxes I forgot about everything and enjoyed it. When the music started it went funny for a little bit then it sorted itself out and we danced it so full of energy that I was out of breath at the end. After we danced five people stayed up and the rest went to the room. We played games to pass the time before we got called back up for the final adjudication.

The adjudicator came down she placed the other groups and then it was our turn, we were so excited. When she said "And in 1st place is group number 2" I was speechless. In the Audience people were cheering. I couldn't believe it! We had won! When we came off stage we got gold medals. I was so excited I couldn't wait to tell everyone. The atmosphere on the bus the way home was great every one was happy. I will always remember that day as it was a great experience. A day full of fun and friends.
