June 2007

The Imperial Ballet Awards are held every year in Londonwith children from all over England and Europe entering

The contenders have to do a class of about three exercises followed by a pre-learnt set dance for two or three judges who choose the finalists. These finalists then repeat the class before a panel of judges from the Royal Ballet, who choose the places.

This years judges were Belinda Hatley and Gillian Revie both first soloists at the Royal & Francesca Filpi who is both Director of Wells Summer School and First Artist at the Royal.

Left: Emily Warner won the Intermediate Award, the Port De Bras and the Musicality Award.

Also Congratulations to:

Elise Brabben, Mia Zandi, Eloise Massey, Hannah Pye and James Field who have all been chosen to have three free classes in London with senior faculty members or

guest teachers.

Georgia Attfield, Jade Spooner, Libby Watts and Emily Warner who have been invited to an open class at The Royal Opera House London where they will be auditioned for a senior scholarship.

Last year (2006) both Emily Warner and Georgia Attfield won classes with Royal Ballet members Francesca Filpi and Vanessa Palmer which proved very beneficial and enjoyable.
